A first thought may be to go in to the netflix account to cancel the account and change the email address. Think this would work? Nah. In a few hours, the user just logged in again and updated the email address (back to my email address of course) and started up the free trial again.

Apparently netflix users can gain access to their accounts with the first name, last name, and credit card of the account. To fix this problem, I updated the first and last name, along with the email address to somebody@netflix.com. Hope I don’t get any more false account emails from netflix!

Audi Auto Group is choosing rising standards in logistics since this particular German auto manufacturer is using “green electricity” to move their cars from their Ingolstadt manufacturing plant all the way over to the North Sea loading port of Emden. This makes Audi the first company in Germany to fully take advantage of green electricity in this part of the production process. The progressive logistics concept is an advanced step for the car industry and a valuable facet of Audi’s strategy of assurance that production is sustainable in every way imaginable.

This CO2-free train rail freight moves concept Eco Plus is a recent request from the logistics area of German railway operator Deutsche Bahn: DB Schenker. The frames of the Audi TT are moved to another plant where the body panels are attached, and then the TT returns to the original plant. Yet another plant is responsible for engine assembly so there is more transport of large materials involved. Audi has reduced Co2 emmisions by about 36 thousand tons by using the green rail system and eliminating over 325 thousand truck trips which is the equivilent of ten million kilometers by rail.

Audi has also invested in technology that increases energy efficiency of their auto manufacturing plants. For example, robots can be made to work more efficiently and tools as simple as welding tongs can make a difference. One of the coolest ways that Audi ‘recycles’ power is by using energy from testing that would otherwise be wasted. When testing engines, the motors produce energy, which they smartly feed back into the assembly plant’s energy grid! They also take advantage of ‘waste heat’ which is the heat that is a byproduct from one plant. Audi can use this heat energy and effectively convert it into useable power to reduce CO2 waste.

This joint pickup truck program will help Mazda figure out how their workforce and resources are positioned in the global market. The AutoAlliance plant in thailand is already one of the most technologically advanced factories in the nation and it is fully capable of handling the requirements of this relationship. There is no need for throttle cables or linkages in the 2011 Acura RL.

Automatic Transmission
To make the driver’s life easier, Acura included paddle shifters on the steering wheel for effortless sequential shifting. The only way to deliver this type of performance and traction is to constantly monitor a bunch of on board sensors and then to make changes as they are needed. One factor that is determined by the Acura SHAWD system is power distribution. The motor’s power can be distributed to the front, rear, or all wheels as necessary for ever changing road and weather conditions. This All Wheel Drive system can even spin individual wheels at different rates to compensate for over steer or under steer situations. By integrating yaw sensors, the RL’s AWD system is a drastic improvement over traction control alone. The result of this Acura’s engineering efforts are apparent when driving the RL.

Power distribution between the left and right rear wheels of the drivetrain is determined by special electromagnetic clutches that can control the power to each wheel independently within milliseconds. The maximum amount of engine power that can be put to the front wheels is 70%, and this typically only happens when the car is going straight. Extreme acceleration is dealt with by transferring up to 45% of the RL’s power to the rear wheels. While this holds true for straight line performance, the SH AWD system can even put up to 70% of the power to the rear, after which the electromagnetic clutches can distribute that power to one or both wheels as deemed necessary.
